Say It Ain't So.

My roommate had showed me this article a while back. At first I was in denial, then I realized.... it is so.

Not only does she make the "crying meow", I do blame myself for this because when I lived by myself I did talk to her quite a lot. She also wakes me up EVERY MORNING at 5:30a because that is her breakfast time, this is a break because when she was little it was 4am and there was always a paw whacking me in the face. Then she goes out on the balcony (yes she is still allowed after the mishap) for her morning breath of fresh air. If I close my door, she will claw at my thresh hold until I open it and give her what she wants. She even follows me into the bathroom EVERY TIME I GO. I swear the moment she hears a droplet hit the stool she comes running in, she could just miss out on something. She is like a furry toddler, my furry toddler!

Summer Time Summer Time

Ahhhhhh... what a relief. The heaters are off and so are the snow boots.

This is the season for itsy bitsy tinny winey yellow poka-dot bikini's, tans (burns), flip flops, bright colors and good times.

So far this summer I have had multiple bbq's, beers, entertainment and ahhhh naps!

I have to brag, although I'm not the best in house cook, I'm a bad ass by blood at the grill. So far the flames have cooked some steaks, chicken, cabbage, zucchini, squash, pine apple and last night asparagus and fish. No one in Johnson County can do it like me! Men are impressed and women are jealous.

Other things I have been up to this summer: summer classes. 3 classes in 7 weeks. Time is flying by. I think I have done homework everyday since they have started. All online, thank goodness. I print off all the info I need and then write out the assignments @ work.

Friday the 26th of June, my new roomie, Jose and one of our friends from FHSU, went to a show called Quixotic. It was on the line of the Circus Oley that is in Las Vegas. Its based out of KC and we actually know 2 of the people that work on the production from FHSU so we got to go to the after party. The show can be taken as a love story, as it is mostly ballet with some rope performers and a couple of other aerial acts. The main man had fallen in love with 2 women, one good the other evil. All I can say was this is an awesome show!

At the party, which was sponsored by some kind of vodka and KC's Boulevard Beer Co., liquor and beer was free! I think they went through 6 or so CASES of vodka by 1 am. I was the DD so I only had 1 beer. Plus we had been walking around on the Plaza before the show and the combo of my shoes and the humidity gave me a blister the size of a quarter or bigger. I still made it the rest of the night and the after party went on @ 10404 #203! Good times, noodle salad.

All in all. Its been a bitchin summer! I hate the heat but love the activities. These couple of days we have had a "break" from the Kansas heat. I saw a report on the news the other day that said it has rained all but 9 days in June in KC. LOVE IT! Still really sticky.

What else could make this summer better than little baby cuddles also. What a gift!

One last thing. Lets give up a moment of silence to the king, Michael Jackson. Still can't believe he is gone.

Good times, noodle salad.

9 Lives

Yes I know my last blog was about Miss Jane, but oh well. Friday, little miss thing, decided to try and fly or something.

My friend Tiffany was at my apt all day watching TV b/c she only has a few channels through the cable boxes and I have basic cable (free!!!!!!) so she didn't want to lounge at her place all day with nothing to do. She left around 4p to go take care of some things before she went to work for the night. My roommate and I got home from work around 5:15. With in that hour Mary Jane had decided she had enough with my apartment and took a dive. I came in and she usually greats me at the door so I started to look for her. I looked in my room, bathroom and closet. No where. I looked in my roommates room and bathroom. Still no kittie. Kitchen. Nope. So I went on my balcony and called for her. I could hear her so Jose, the new roommate, got up and looked on the roof because I have caught her trying to maneuver up there before. Nope. The only other place would be 3 stories down. We went to the back and started looking for her. We could hear her but couldn't see her. She was hiding in some weeds behind my apt. I picked her up and she instantly clung to me. Poor girl.

I really don't know if she jumped or not because I had Maggie for the weekend while Michele and Rich were in Osborne. I figure they were just playing and some how Mary Jane ended up on the ground 3 stories lower. I have been in my apt for over a year and she has never tired to jump off the balcony.

Once inside she went straight to hide under my bed. She couldn't keep her eyes open and it began to really worry me. Of course it had to happen after all but the ER vet offices were closed. I had put pressure on her belly and pulled on her legs to see if she would react and she didn't but I still couldn't risk it.

I took her in and the vet by the name of Susan Weis took care of her. She said all she had was a scratch on her gums and that she was a VERY lucky little girl. They gave her a little pain shot and she was off to rest at home. She is doing fine now and is moving and shaking like nothing ever happened. I think it knocked a little bitchyness out of her because she has been pleasant since! What would I do with out my girl?

2 Years With My Baby Girl!

It was about 2 yrs ago when I adopted my little furry friend from a girl I had ceramics with. After various attempts to have and keep a dog I gave up and "settled" for a cat. I will never say that this is a decision I regret.

I remember the day I got this little fur ball. My bff Clint and I went to go pick her up in the old University Apartments in Hays. When I arrived she had multiple cats, I had never said what color or anything, just that I wanted a cat. She had pre-appointed cats for everyone. I'm sure so there weren't some crazy cat ladies fighting over cats. I walked in and she handed me the little ball of fur. Then Clint and I walked out and with her on his shoulders pacing around I looked up at her and asked Clint "I only wonder what we will name her?" He instantly said "Mary Jane." I took another look at her as she was meowing and still pacing and knew that was it. The perfect name for the cutest cat! I usually wait a couple days to name a pet because I like it to incorporate their personality. Like when I got Pouncer. He just wouldn't stop pouncing on things. Hence the name.
Here she is when she was about 3 months old sleeping. I always call it her "Praying Picture."

This is a coffee table that one of my old friends had. Its a bear on its back and its legs hold up the glass. She would always lay on the bears belly and sleep like this. Dork!

She has some of the weirdest habits. She has to be around me all the time. When I'm in the bathroom. She is there for my support. She hasn't been in the sink much anymore, I'm guessing because I would just run the water on her or spit if I was brushing my teeth. She has some what of a tolerance to water. One of her bad habits is having to knock over every cup insight. So I bought a water bottle to spray her whenever she would start to knock one over. She really didn't care. One time I did it to her in the living room and she went behind a little stand that I had sitting out to shield the water from hitting her. She has started to retaliate from this tho, she will attack my feet and elbows out of no where now. I now have a rug under my coffee table in the living room so if I forget to pick up a cup with something in it, it doesn't stain my carpet.

Some of her favorite things include fuzzy blankets. She doesn't sleep on the furniture much, unless there is a fuzzy blanket on it. Her favorite one is "her" KU blanket. Dang she is smart! Yes she did also sport a KU collar during the season! Shes just as addicted as I am! Or maybe its the bird she wants.

She does however, have a favorite chair. Its a raggedy one that Clint brought from his apt in Hays and she has claimed it... which is fine with me! The only reason I still have it is because I get the best free wireless reception in the "spare" bedroom.

A new found favorite is the laser pointer! Mine is attached to a key chain and anytime she hears it or anything that sounds like it, she gets excited and starts looking for the dot!

She also likes to be out on the deck or peer from the window. She often has what I call "bird seizures." She will have small meows and her body will shake when she sees a bird. While she is also on the deck she likes to flaunt her pretty fur to the little kids that live in the apt down and across from me when they are out on their deck.

Of course she is curious and the other day when I was cleaning out my desk she climbed in one of the slots for the drawers.

Just tonight she was helping me study for my Chemistry final. She's always laying on my books, note cards or notebooks.

Metabolic Pathways and Energy Production must of been too much for her. Yes she likes to get in a good stretch while she dreams of mice and birds.

She also likes the little feather toys she received for Valentines Day from Grandma. Still freaked out about the packaging job Mom!

If you have noticed in her pictures she has the cutest little freckly on her nose. One of my favorite things about her is that she is ALWAYS at the door when I walk in. Ready for a good belly scratching and some loving! She also ALWAYS makes sure that I'm up by 5:30 am so that she can get fed. When she was little it was 4 am. She sticks a paw in my face and makes sure I'm up. She reminds me of Grandpa. Mom has said several times that during the winter he would tell the kids "I want to hear those feet on the floor."

Thank you Mary Jane for sticking with me while we were on the move a lot for a while when I first got you! You will soon have a place where you can chase all the birds and climb all the trees you want! Just hold in there chic!

Football/ Birthday Weekend.

Caleb, now 8, has started playing flag football. He has games on Saturdays, and last weekend I wanted to go so bad, but the game was canceled due to the down pour or rain that started Saturday morning. This weekend I was destined to make it! The game started at 10 so I knew I had to leave by 9:30 to make it on time. I left around 9:40. There are many ways to make it to the North land, my favorite being the 35N to the 169N because I like to cut through the city and smell the fresh Folgers aroma that surrounds the blocks around Broadway and 6Th St. The first times I smelled it I thought I was hallucinating. So running 10 min late already I started my journey towards the north. Knowing that I can't take my usual route because of road construction on the 35, but you can take the 35N to the point where I needed to go. Last weekend I could do this, this weekend I found out this trip wasn't going to be happening. My exit was closed so I kept going and exited on The Paseo to turn around and try to figure this out. I ended up calling Dionn, who handed the phone to Marc b/c her city savvy doesn't extend much past North KC. SO I FINALLY GET GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I start going on I-70 W and was distracted at one point, of course it had to be the point where there are 3 directions to go, left is 70, middle 35S, far right 35N. I slipped up and took the middle, 35S. By this time I am heading back towards my apt in Shawnee and about gave up and headed home. Stupid road work. I got to Caleb's game around 10:30 and got to see him pull a flag off. I can't wait for the next ones! I know I can't make it to next weekends because I picked up some hours for the weekend.

Here he is ready to get a flag! (by the 2 orange things)

In front of the ref eyeing the target.

I don't know who won, but I do know that he had fun. After the game they get snacks. Hes such a good big brother because he made sure to bring Payton a juice. As you can tell it was another gloomy day, but pretty nice if you can get past the high humidity and pollen count... great another summer in KS is approaching.

Payton turned 6 on the 22Nd and her little birthday party was Sunday. This time I took the route completely around the city to avoid any slight complications. She had some of the neighbor girls, "Little" Red (Eli), and cousin Cameron. She had wanted her ears pierced for her birthday.

Dionn had told her many times that it does sting for a while. Dionn said she didn't even cry, just that her pretty eyes got big when they went through and that was it. What a big girl! Of course in the picture she couldn't put down Dionn's phone, which she was playing a bowling game on while at Caleb's game.
She had told Dionn that she wanted to make an Earth cake. Blue sprinkles for they sky and something for the grass.

Melania, Caleb, Michele, Stella

Another gloomy day with rain sometime throughout the day so They just stayed inside for some of it and made bracelets. It wasn't raining for the party so they did get to run around outside and play on the swing set in the back yard.

:-D My fave 3! Can't wait till 4!!!!!

sorry about my absence

I have been trying to study almost every chance I get. Cleaning and blogging have become the last things on my list to do. The semester is almost over... only 2 more wks left! I've been waiting for it all semester but now I wish it wasn't coming to an end. I think its because I don't wanna take a risk of messing up one of the last tests I have b/c I'm actually doing well in school this year. Humm not used to that... but def something I am looking forward to doing. Well back to a little more about the Respiratory system. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Intersting way to college basketball recruiting

Ok so I really do enjoy a nice basketball game. I'm a little saddened that the NCAA season is over, as it is my favorite. Already for next year, since Collins and Aldrich will be back to the Phog for more brutial bball games! But here is something interesting I read just after my class today. LaBron James aka the protege of NBA bball right now averages 28 points per game and 7 rebounds. He was recruited right out of high school and has made the Clevand Cavs what they are this year. He is also a yr older than me. Basically a one man bball team! Well so I admit that I get ESPN alerts send to my phone! I got this one this am that said "John Calipari (KY coach) sent scholarship papers to LeBron James' sons when they were born." Talk about preparing for your future! So.... this goes out to Kobe Bryant... EAT IT. FYI hes my least favorite bball player EVER!!!!!!!

WHEW!!!!! what a relief!!!

I was just sitting here at work. During one of my 4 hr shifts that eventually end into a 24 hr wee. BORING! I'm a fast pace woman when it comes to work and nothing is better to me (at the moment) than working. I do enjoy WHAT I do just not always WHERE. For instance this weekend I went to the Johnson Co. Nursing Home for the first time with my PRN job that sends me to different places often. Well when I got there at 9a (9a-9p) the nurse gave me a sheet with the residents that were my responsibility and it told me my breaks. Breaks at 1200 & 1900 with lunch at 1400. So at 1200 sharp the lady that is perm at the facility said that I had to go get people up. I said well according to this its time for me to go on break, which she had had her first one about 2 hrs earlier. She began to walk off. I asked her if there was a break room around so I could go get something to drink and sit for a minute. Her comment was, "Yup if you can find one." UGGGGGGGGGGG this drove me CRAZY and I almost started to follow her so I could strangle the mouthy little brat. Now she has been at the facility for almost a yr so she knows damn well where it is.

Ok so now that I DON'T EVER HAVE TO GO BACK THERE... my story gets better. Ok so the blog yesterday. SCRATCH IT!!!!! About 30 min ago the place that I had an interview with called and offered me a full time position for the noc shift. Which is what i wanted. Yes some of you are like what are you thinking?!?! Well I do tend to sleep better through the day and I won't have to work around my school schedule as much. The place is in Olathe, KS, about 10 min away from my little apartment. It is a Catholic facility and I think it is very fond of art. When I filled out my job app they had copies of The Mona Lisa and my favorite, pottery all over. During the interview I wasn't sure if the guy was impressed with me. I know hard not to be but when he was wrapping it up I kinda felt like I had landed it because he mentioned that they are looking for someone who will go above and beyond what is written out for the requirements for the night shift. Things I had mentioned during the interview. It is such a relief! With 24 hrs in a week I was beginning on wondering how exactly I was going to pay all my bills for the month. Of course I just started my personal insurance so that was an extra expense monthly, but a very much needed one!

Now the delima, which I can figure out more when I go in on Monday to do the paperwork and all the new job stuff. With my current job its hard not to get attached to my clients. On Tuesdays I sit with a 94 yr old lady that keeps me going! She has become close to me and I know that I have become close to her. She told everyone on this Tuesday (4/7/09) that I was her best friend and that they better watch out because they might be delt with. Granted she can barley walk any more... but Grandma's got my back. Ok so here is one for Jeff Foxworthy.... You know you have dementia when you think your BM's are puppies or kitties. Yes she does ask me if they are puppies or kitties and boys or girls. Usually I can't help but make little puppy yelps, which she just laughs to. I can't help it. Plus she LOVES Obama and can't ever get enough of "the handsome man with the nice smile." Yes Denzel falls into this category as well with his Allstate commercials! I have 16 hr shifts with her on Tues. and I may back them off to an 8.

My other client isn't going anywhere. I only have 2 4 hr shifts a week, Wed and Fri. Which the wife might add Thurs now because her insurance will start paying for all the visits. I actually take care of the man but I also help out the wife. My boss called me the other day to check up on the man and ask me how he was doing and she didn't give me anything but GREAT compliments. She has to do monthly visits on the client to get VS and just keep a log of mental and physical progression. She told me that Mrs. Green, the wife, always says that she is glad to have me around and that she doesn't know what she would do without me. One day, in the beginning of all my visits she just kinda started tearing up and told me that I'm the only one helping her and she gave me a big hug and told me thanks. She must know I'm a softy. I almost started crying too.

my first post!

So mine may not be as fancy as Mrs. McLaughlin's but I will catch on.

Ok so lately i have been on a massive job hunt. My current one, which basically entitles me to babysit elderly people, has been letting me down. I'm currently working 24 hrs a week and it drives me crazy. I like to work and I want to work. Today I took my Missouri CNA test, and passed with flying colors! The written test was only 50 questions, the me and another girl had to give a resident in the facility that we went to a shower. This could of not been any easier. The resident was a self ambulating person and one of the sweetest and cutiest ladies I have seen. I do say this a lot, but what can I say there are some pretty cute elderly people out there. She was only 58 so she wasn't that old. Today was even her birthday so she was very happy and cheerful. OK, so not only was she an easy shower to do, they did not even supervise us. After the shower we had to do a couple range of motion activities like raising her arms 10x each, doing circles with her arms, and legs. Very easy. After that the other lady and I were done. Now I am expanding my job search into the Missouri side of KC. Just hopefully I can find something and soon! I have had two interviews in the last two weeks and should hear something from them in the next week. Keep your fingers crossed!
